Trust.Zone headquarters is located in Seychelles, and it is really good for privacy lovers. The country is not on the in 5-, 9- or 14-eyes list, so should not worry about governmental spying. Seychelles laws do not force companies to share users’ data with everyone, and Trust.Zone uses this right in full. It is a good advantage over many competitors.

The VPN offers 170 servers in 96 locations. During the 3-day test period, 142 servers are available for use. Yes, they do not cover many small countries, but there are servers on every continent. It is not that much if compared to market leaders like ExpressVPN or NordVPN, but the coverage is still better than what many services offer.

trust zone vpn reviewsThe connection speed is good on most servers. Almost all of them are able to unlock services like Netflix or HBO.

One of the Trust.Zone weakest points is the lack of apps for different platforms. At the moment, there are native apps only for Windows and Android. However, if you are not an Apple guy, there will be no problems for you.

Besides, Trust.Zone offers detailed instructions on how to manually set up the connection on other platforms including Mac OS, iOS, Linux, routers, and even gaming consoles and smart TVs.

The number of simultaneous connections depends on the plan. Therefore, during the free trial, you are able to use only one device. If you get a 2-year subscription, you will be able to use 5 devices at the same time. All other plans allow using only 3 devices.

At the same time, there is an option to buy three additional connections for $0.97-$2.99 per month. While Trust.Zone is rather moderately-priced, adding the extra connections fee to the plans’ price put it in the same league with IPVanish and PureVPN that are among the top-5 industry leaders. Most Trust.Zone competitors allow using at least 5 devices with all the plans for free, and the IPVanish offers 10 simultaneous connections.

Trust.Zone still has a lot of issues to work upon to become a top product. Native apps for all major platforms is now an industry standard, and live customer support is also essential for many customers. Still, as the pricing is quite affordable, Trust.Zone may be a good choice for Windows and Android users from Europe and the US.

Privacy and Security

Encryption and Protocols

Trust.Zone provides a basic set of features similar to other competitors. You get 443 port for secure connection, industry standard protocols, and a Kill Switch. The available protocols are OpenVPN and IPSec/L2TP with AES-256 encryption. So, your traffic will be absolutely protected in every situation.

Among supported security protocols, OpenVPN must be the first choice. It proved itself as the most reliable standard. In addition, it is open source and is constantly developed and improved by the community.

While the VPN client does not allow you to choose a security protocol manually, you can select the VPN port, which is almost the same as each port supports the specific protocols. Moreover, you can set up OpenVPN manually in a separate application. There are detailed configuration instructions on the official website. In this case, you will have to set up a separate connection for each server you are going to use.

Special Features

trust zone vpn reviews: is it safe

  • Kill Switch. The VPN client constantly monitors your connection to the VPN server. If the connection accidentally drops, the Kill Switch blocks the device from accessing the Internet. This is the last line of your defense that protects your confidential data from accidental interception. Internet connection remains blocked until the connection is restored or until the Kill Switch is disabled. While most services allow activating this option manually, Trust.Zone made it available by default.
  • DNS Leak Protection. When using HTTPS or SSL, your HTTP traffic is encrypted. However, sometimes, your DNS requests are transmitted in an open unencrypted form. This opens up great opportunities for hackers. When you use Trust.Zone VPN, all your traffic is fully encrypted and protected from DNS leaks. But the feature must be activated in the application settings. Read more about the potential risk of DNS leaks here.
  • Multihop. Usually, you use one VPN server to connect to some resource. But with Multihop option, Trust.Zone routes your traffic via several servers for better confidentiality. Only a few VPNs can boast a similar feature. It is worth mentioning, though, that while routing your traffic through several servers boosts the safety of the connection, it impedes the speed of the connection.

Trust Zone Logging Policy

Trust.Zone does it all right when it comes to privacy. You can read their privacy policy on the separate page on the website. It is not very long and quite clearly describes what they store and what they do not.

Trust.Zone keeps only your email address you enter during the registration and no other private data that can let identify you. When it comes to your Internet sessions, Trust.Zone really keeps zero logs policy, that is, they do not store any real IP addresses, connection logs, and any other sensitive data. So, they will have nothing to share with the government even if they get a request. The only data they save is some basic general technical information and the amount of traffic you used.

Performance

Recent update has really changed the performance of Trust.Zone. It is possible that it may work slower when connecting to the specific VPN server, but on the servers located in the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands the speed is at a consistently good level. Of course, any VPN will reduce your connection speed, and so will Trust.Zone. But in most cases, the speed drop did not exceed 20-30%.

However, the improvements did not affect all parts of the server network. In some countries, for example, Japan and Brazil, there are no significant improvements. Sometimes it even seems that it works worse now. In Brazil, the performance was always at an unacceptably low level, unfortunately. Delays have not yet been completely eliminated so we cannot advise the service to gamers.

Trust Zone Speed

For some tests, we used Speedtest from Ookla. We are physically located in Europe, and our Internet provider provides 50 Mbps channel with an average ping of 2ms. We got the following results:

  • Germany – 45.17/42.25 Mbps;
  • UK – 46.88/44.91 Mbps;
  • US – 39.54/40.03 Mbps;
  • Singapore – 17.33/12.10 Mbps;
  • Canada – 37.70/36.83 Mbps;
  • Netherlands – 49.76/51.01 Mbps;
  • Australia – 15.65/12.10 Mbps;
  • Brazil – 6.32/2.13 Mbps.

In general, Trust.Zone provides a great connection speed. It will be good for every online task, from ordinary browsing to 4K video streaming. Remember that the closer the server is to you and the faster your connection is, the better result you get.

No Leaks Detected/Leaks Detected

As usual, we have also performed WebRTC, IPv4, and DNS leak tests. For that, we used ipleak.net service. We used multiple locations on several platforms. And all of them successfully passed all the tests! Trust.Zone does not leak any data. It works as any respected VPN should work.

Torrenting and Streaming

Most users buy VPN subscriptions to securely download files from torrent networks as well as access geo-locked streaming services. Is Trust.Zone good at it?

Is torrenting allowed?

P2P networks, more known as torrents, are a great source to download music, movies, series, games, and software. Being the largest piracy resources, they are restricted or blocked in many countries. If you still download copyrighted materials via torrents, you can be penalized once it is detected.

Trust.Zone VPN allows using torrents without any restriction. It means you can use them in full without the risk to be punished.

To check the speed in the torrent app, we downloaded Linux Mint distributive. The speeds were very high, we finished in several minutes.

What about Netflix?

Netflix is the streaming giant that is one the favorite picks for binge watching for many users. The problem is Netflix libraries available for residents of different countries vary. The libraries in Europe, for example, are scarcer if compared to the US version. To access the full database, a lot of people use VPN to get into the American version of the service.

At the same time Netflix actively blocks VPN traffic so many decent providers now fail to unblock the US library of the streaming platform. What about Trust.Zone?

Of course, not all their servers allow unlocking access to the platform, but there are a lot of them which can do that. So, if you’re looking for a VPN to stream Netflix without geo-restrictions, Trust.Zone is a good solution so far.

How much does Trust Zone cost?

Trust.Zone provides very attractive prices if you are ready to buy the subscription for a year or two. In that case, you’ll get better value for money than with most competitors.

However, before buying, you’re able to test the service during the 3 days. You’ll get with 1 GB of traffic for 1 device at your disposal and access to 142 locations. It is more than enough to understand whether you like the VPN or not.

If you are ready to get the premium plan, the price will depend on how long the subscription will be. How will the price differ?

  • 1 month: $6.99
  • 1 year: $39.95 per year – it is $3.33 per month – you save 63%
  • 2 years: $69.15 per 2 years – it is $2.88 per month – you save 74%. In addition, you get 5 simultaneous connections instead of 3

Less than $3 a month is really cheap. Not every provider offers such a low price!

In addition, you may buy some extra features. They include dedicated IP addresses in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States and 3 additional simultaneous connections. The dedicated IP price starts from $2.27/month (French or Australian IP with a 2-year plan), and 3 extra connections will cost you $0.97 to $2,99 per month.

Customer Support

The only way to get support from Trust.Zone is to fill out a special form after logging to your account on the website. The customer support is available Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm GMT +0. There is no live chat on the website.

This is very limited, although, on the other hand, their e-mail replies come very quickly and always to the point.

The support section on Trust.Zone does not contain a lot of useful information. There is a FAQ section with a basic search feature that may help users solve some issues the support’s assistance. FAQ is not very convenient to navigate as all the questions are not grouped into sections.

Setup VPN page will be of great help for advanced users. It provides clear and detailed instructions with screenshots on how to set up and configure the VPN connection on any device. It is very important as the service does not provide separate applications for most platforms – only Windows and Android clients are available.

The lack of live chat and 24/7 support is a bit odd. Trust.Zone should definitely improve this aspect to be able to compete with the leading VPN services.

Do we recommend Trust Zone?

Trust.Zone is a great VPN service based in the Seychelles that provides a minimal set of features at a competitive price. It has a solid reputation and our multiple tests proved its efficiency. The only big disadvantage is the lack of supported devices via native apps.

So, if you need a VPN with a minimal set of features for an affordable price, Trust.Zone will be a great choice. However, if you need the native support of multiple platforms and more advanced options, try to look elsewhere.
