Let’s start our KeepSolid VPN Unlimited review with their HQ location – New York, the United States. It is not the best news since the US is under Five Eye jurisdiction.

At the same time, the provider has over 400 servers that are dispersed around more than 70 locations. Therefore, it has rather good coverage.

The license allows up to 5 devices to work simultaneously – an average number among VPN services. If you want more, you can buy a license for 10 devices. The app supports all platforms. Additionally, this provider offers extensions for Chrome and Firefox.

What do you get with VPN Unlimited?

Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Cheap
  • Good support
  • Unblocks Netflix
Cons:
  • Rather low speed
  • No zero-logs policy
This provider has a simple interface, and you don’t have to be an expert in technology to use it at its full potential. This VPN is quite cheap and provides its users with decent support – customers can get a response from the support team within one hour. Moreover, it’s one of the few VPN service providers that work with Netflix.

But the biggest concern of many users in the past was that there were leaks detected. Users reported DNS, IP address and WebRTC leaks. Moreover, lack of kill switch added up to the general disappointing impression. Many outdated reviews still claim that VPN Unlimited has such major drawbacks, but it is not the case anymore

Updated VPN Unlimited apps feature a kill switch and all the clients except for Windows have DNS leak protection settings option. The service currently does much better during leak tests, and we’ve not detected any during our testing process.

The service is still far from being perfect, and we’ll get to all the drawbacks further in our VPN Unlimited review, but they take users’ feedbacks seriously and constantly work on making the product better. Agreeable pricing adds appeal to the service as well.

Privacy and Security

VPN Unlimited promises to protect you and ensure total security of your connections and absolute anonymity of your actions online. Let’s check if they have all the necessary instruments in place to guarantee rock-solid protection to the users.

Encryption and Protocols

VPN Unlimited reviewThis provider offers a choice of protocols including the most reliable – OpenVPN. Additionally, VPN Unlimited offers KeepSolid Wise protocols which are created for countries that don’t have access to the free internet and won’t allow VPNs like Saudi Arabia or China. It is not something innovative – TunnelBear has GhostBear mode for such countries, IPVanish offer Obfuscation servers, and CyberGhost boasts Chameleon protocol. And still, it is a feature that adds extra value.

Windows and Android devices will connect to VPN through OpenVPN and KeepSolid Wise. Apple devices owners will have IKEv2 additionally. On Linux users will also have OpenVPN and KeepSolid Wise, while Windows phone platform is limited to the outdated L2TP/IPSec and PPTP.

Special Features

VPN Unlimited has introduced a kill switch, which is really great news. All best VPNs have this option, as otherwise if you switch servers or your connection to the VPN is interrupted, your data will be exposed.

DNS leak protection is also available, though unfortunately we cannot say it is 100% reliable, and some leaks do occur.

More than just a VPN

VPN Unlimited is just a VPN, nothing more. It doesn’t block nor ads not malware. With this provider, you can only get a VPN service. However, KeepSolid offers extra services like Personal server or Personal IP.

The provider says on its website that it offers “even the ability to set a VPN on your WiFi router.” Why even? We have no idea. Installing VPN on a router is a pretty generic thing.

VPN Unlimited Logging Policy

VPNUnlimited Reviews: is it safeCommonly, a VPN would guarantee a zero logging policy – it means that they don’t gather user data and store it. It is crucial for user privacy, especially if the VPN provider is located in Five Eyes or other jurisdictions.

Being located in the US, the country that is included in Five Eyes, VPN Unlimited, however, doesn’t have a zero logging policy. The service monitors the number of people that access its servers and track the behavior of users in the app. The reasons behind it is the necessity to troubleshoot network problems and their intention to improve the user interface. Even though it all sounds quite harmless, there is something to worry about.

VPN Unlimited tracks the session duration, and the provider gives a very vague purpose for it. Tracking the duration, it can monitor the bandwidth usage. The user with security concerns wouldn’t want this data recorded for sure since it can prove some actions like torrenting.

Performance

The biggest issue most users face is that VPN Unlimited doesn’t connect to the virtual server, particularly in Windows app. It would show as it the connection is on, but in reality, the device is not connected to VPN. This lag occurs randomly and seems like only Windows users have this problem. We do hope that this bug will be fixed with the updated version of the software, and that it won’t take the developers long to take actions.

VPN Unlimited Speed

VPN Unlimited for torrentingWe have run several tests with a starting speed of 100 Mbps. All we can say, the speed VPN Unlimited offers varies from server to server. The fastest server were naturally the ones located nearby in Europe with the speed ranging from 78 to 52 Mbps. Other servers in distant locations had speed from 10 to 30 Mbps. We should also flag that the speed was rather inconsistent with huge fluctuations from 10% to 90% drops.

These results are not impressive, and still not the worst ones. True, top VPNs like ExpressVPN would cut the speed just a bit if you connect to nearby servers – you can expect to get no more than 5% of speed drop.

And still, results demonstrated by VPN Unlimited are on par with say PureVPN. If you don’t try to connect to a server located on a different continent, you should be able to surf the web and even enjoy streaming with not much buffering.

Leaks Detected

We have already mentioned that previously leaks were reported by some VPN Unlimited users. So we thought it would be a good idea to test out this VPN.

With Windows client, we’d first picked the KeepSolid Wise UDP protocol and then turned on Stop DNS leak with the high level of protection for DNS firewall. All these actions actually helped, and we had no leaks detected.

At the same disabling the Stop DNS leak option led to active leaks, which is kind of natural. Therefore, just make sure the proper setting are on to avoid leaks.

Torrenting and Streaming

VPN Unlimited Review: is it good for torrentMost users get VPN to download and upload torrents and watch geo-restricted shows on streaming services. Since this provider has demonstrated controversial results in almost every previous category, let’s see if it can score something here.

Is torrenting allowed?

VPN Unlimited allows torrenting only on certain servers which is rather common. However, with the rather low speed, this provider is initially not the best choice for torrenting. Also, its HQ location and lack of zero-logs policy don’t make us feel like using it for torrenting.

Remember, we have told that VPN Unlimited tracks your usage of bandwidth? This data can be a proof that the person is using torrents. You wouldn’t want to have these records on you, especially if you live in a country where torrenting is illegal. Additionally, don’t forget where VPN Unlimited is located. Do you want your data to get into government hands? We doubt that.

What about Netflix?

We have great news for you here, as VPN Unlimited successfully unblocks Netflix. And this provider has quite many servers that would work with this streaming service. So you finally will be able to watch your favorite show that is not available in your country. Right, the speed is not perfect, but as we’ve already sad it is not that bad not to let you enjoy smooth streaming.

Other streaming options (Firestick, Kodi, Popcorn time)

VPN Unlimited works with HBO, BBC iPlayer and other streaming platforms as well. Which is great, as you get more available options for your binge-watching weekends. Here this provider definitely wins.

How much does VPN Unlimited cost?

is VPN Unlimited safe for streamingVPN Unlimited has average prices. It offers flexible payment methods so you won’t struggle to pay for the license. There is a free trial for 7 days and a 7-day money back guarantee.

  • 3 years – $2.78/month

The Lifetime plan seems to be something that only VPN Unlimited has. As suspicious as it looks, it is apparently not a scam. Many users got this plan during sales, and they didn’t get charged for the service again. So if you tried this provider and liked it, you can get a Lifetime plan. Especially considering that it helps to save a lot of money.

License for 10 devices:

  • Monthly – $14.99/month
  • 1 year – $7.50/month
  • 3 years – $4.17/month

Customer Service

is VPN Unlimited for Kodi and Netflix enoughThe customer service of VPN Unlimited is great which is quite rare because a lot of providers lack good support. Even though VPN Unlimited has its drawbacks, it tries its best to support its clients. Therefore, you will find a live chat here that most premium and fairly expensive providers don’t have.

So once you turn to the live chat of VPN Unlimited, you will be put in the queue on the website. It took us only 20 minutes to get a response which is rather impressive. Thus, customers can expect solid support from this provider. And even if they experience any issues with the service, they can always get quick help.

Another way to get help is to write VPN Unlimited an email which will get a quick response as well. We got answered by the support team within 40 minutes when we sent them an email. It is really quick and such care about customers helps VPN Unlimited to stand out and cover its drawbacks.

Do we recommend VPN Unlimited?

This provider has its downsides. However, it has customers as well, doesn’t it? And they seem rather satisfied with the service. Of course, some connectivity issues, occasional leaks, and rather low speed are not something that would attract a tech-savvy and demanding user. But this VPN might be suitable for someone else.

First of all, it will run on any device. The service supports all platforms and therefore is compatible with all gadgets. It is great for families where every member might have a device based on a different platform.

Another advantage is that VPN Unlimited works with all streaming services. It is rare that a VPN can unblock Netflix, so every provider that does is of high value. If you only need to access blocked websites or shows on streaming services, VPN Unlimited will be a good fit for you.
