VPNSecure Review

vpnsecure

VPNSecure is an Australian VPN that was launched seven years ago. So we can say, it is a veteran among VPN providers. On its website, VPNSecure claims to collect zero logs and offer high speed and steady connection. But is it so in reality?

In this VPNSecure review, we will run tests and analyze the performance of the provider to check if it is as good as it pictures itself. Also, we will cover all the pros, cons and prices to tell you if the VPN is a good value for money.

Cons for compare page
  • Few servers
  • The connection speed is inconsistent
VPNSecure is located in Australia, which might be a matter of concern for some users since this country is a member of the Five Eyes alliance. However, the provider has a strict no logs policy, so even if the authorities ask for some user data, VPNSecure won’t be able to provide them with the required information.

One of the most important factors that allow for VPN’s stable performance is a great number of servers spread across the globe. VPNSecure will let you pick from 48 locations, but you’ll only have 79 servers at your disposal. This number is incredibly low in comparison with other VPN services. Still, it might be quite enough if all the servers are working as they should.

The most significant benefit of VPNSecure is that you can use as many devices as you want under one account. Sounds crazy, but it is true. And it is excellent news, especially considering that this provider supports all the popular platform and you can even install it on a router.

What Do You Get with VPNSecure?

Pros:
  • No logs policy
  • Unlimited number of connections
  • The support team answers rapidly
  • Allows torrenting
  • Unblocks Netflix
Cons:
  • Few servers
  • The connection speed is inconsistent
The fact that VPNSecure allows an unlimited number of servers is definitely a huge advantage. Of course, you can try finding the cap, but we bet it will take quite a lot of time. Add to it the opportunity to watch favorite shows on Netflix and use torrents – and you will get a perfect VPN service. However, the speed that jumps up and down can spoil the pleasure.

Privacy and Security

While many people use VPNs to access geo-restricted content, there still are a lot of users who need such services to protect their data. The reasons for getting additional security layer may vary, but the reliability of the provider remains one of the main concerns potential customers have. Therefore, let’s see if VPNSecure is a trustworthy provider.

Encryption and Protocols

VPNSecure offers a truly unusual feature – you can choose the encryption you want to use. DES-CBC, AES-128-CBC, and AES-256-CBC are the ciphers you can choose from. Such an approach ensures that hackers won’t be able to get through because the number of combinations is endless. Even the most advanced computer would need an eternity to decode the encryption.

VPNSecure review - is it enough for Netflix, torrenting, streamingEven though you can choose from any of these three types of encryption, we strongly advise you to give preference to AES-256. It is the most reliable cipher so far. Using it, you can be sure your data is safe.

VPNSecure supports all protocols but uses OpenVPN by default which is the strongest one so far. So just stick to it if the initial speed of your connection is decent.

Special Features

In General Settings you will find Leak Fix – check this box to protect yourself from any DNS, IPv6 and UDP leaks. Also, there is a kill switch feature which users might not notice instantly. In settings there is a box “Disable Internet on disconnect” – here is your kill switch. Check this box as well to make sure no data becomes exposed suddenly.

Another useful feature is the Stealth VPN that allows using VPNSecure in countries where VPN services are forbidden. Checking this box, you will get connected to obfuscated servers. They will hide the fact that you’re utilizing a VPN service making your connection appear as HTTPS traffic. Then even your internet service provider won’t find out you are using a VPN.

VPNSecure Logging Policy

On its website, VPNSecure claims in all CAPS to have a strict no logging policy. But we all know how providers can make their service look better by hiding specific facts in long and tedious privacy policies.

However, if you go through the privacy policy of VPNSecure, you will find that this provider doesn’t log any of your data. It doesn’t monitor and record your IP address, connection and disconnection timestamps, bandwidth, and DNS requests.

The provider will still keep your email address and login data which, as VPNSecure ensures, it protects with AES 2048 encryption. So in theory, you must be perfectly fine – none of the data that can somehow harm you will get exposed.

TOR Compatibility

VPNSecure reviews - is VPNSecure safeVPNSecure is compatible with TOR browser. All you need to do is to install the VPN app on your computer and turn it on. Then all the traffic will be redirected to the VPN server and, therefore, secured. So you can use this service with TOR browser if you need some additional protection for any particular reason.

Performance

The VPNSecure application is easy to install and use. Once it is installed, you will need to enter your username and password. When you log into your account, you’ll see the list of available servers. You need to choose the desired one and click “Connect.”

The only downside is that the design of the login screen looks completely different from the appearance of the main interface. While it can make someone cringe, those who don’t care that much about aesthetics won’t even pay attention to this detail.

It doesn’t affect the performance of the VPN or the simplicity of the navigation. The app is straightforward and easy to use. Even the least tech-savvy user will understand how to interact with VPNSecure in no time.

VPNSecure Speed

Once we logged in, we turned the VPN on and were extremely surprised with how speed almost didn’t change. Then we noticed that the data encryption is off by default, and it is a nuance you need to keep in mind. When there is no encryption, you will naturally get better speed. But your online activity will be completely exposed.

So we have enabled the encryption, and these were the results. Note that we’re based in Europe. The European server had speed at 52.98 Mbps for download and 46.02 for upload. That is a rather average result – there are VPNs with higher bandwidth, but also some VPNs have much worse speeds.

The US server offered us 26.87 Mbps for download and 25.5 Mbps for upload. Not quite impressive, but this speed will let you stream Netflix without delays. So we’re okay with this speed. The most remote server that is based in Hong Kong had terrible speed – 1.67 Mbps for download and 1.78 for upload. To be honest, it was a disaster.

Still, if you get VPNSecure for protection or Netflix, you won’t need to connect to very remote servers. Therefore, speeds will be satisfactory. Of course, you can get much faster VPNs. And to be fair, there are cheaper options. But the unlimited number of devices per account can be a benefit to big families or friends.

No Leaks Detected

does VPNSecure keep logging, pros and consUsing VPNSecure, we detected zero leaks both with leak protection on and off. So we can call this provider reliable. Although, long-term users of this VPN service mention that the connection interrupts sometimes. But with the kill switch on there is no need to worry – the whole connection to the internet will be down if the VPN disconnects.

Torrenting and Streaming

There are two main reasons why users get VPN – to watch geo-restricted shows on Netflix and to use torrents without the risk of getting caught. But not every provider allows torrenting on its servers. And Netflix bans meticulously all the servers that belong to VPN services. Therefore, it is not easy to find a VPN that will let you enjoy unrestricted access to Netflix and unlimited torrenting. Is VPNSecure among those few providers?

Is Torrenting Allowed?

Yes, it is allowed on most servers. You can use VPNSecure to download and share the content through torrents. And since the encryption of this provider is reliable, and there were no leaks detected, you can be sure that no one will find out about your torrenting activity.

However, you have to choose servers wisely. Pick those placed not too far away from your current location to have the highest speed possible. Otherwise, you risk remembering the golden times of dial-up considering that the bandwidth of this provider is not very impressive.

What about Netflix?

Three out of five US servers worked with Netflix perfectly. It means that we can rely on VPNSecure in our desire to watch favorite shows. Well, at least for a while, until Netflix realizes these servers belong to the VPN service and ban them. But for now, VPNSecure is a suitable solution to binge on geo-restricted series.

VPN Secure review Again, the speed might be not the best. But in this case, you can turn the encryption off since you don’t need to protect any data – you’re just watching Netflix. With the encryption disabled you will have a significantly higher speed.

Other Streaming Options

Kodi, Firestick and other streaming platforms haven’t figured out yet that VPNSecure servers belong to the VPN provider, too. So you can use VPNSecure for your favorite streaming software enjoying geo-restricted content.

How Much Does VPNSecure Cost?

First of all, you can try VPNSecure for free for 30 days before buying. But even though the free trial for a month is appealing, it is not that useful, to be fair. You will have access to just one server in the US and only 2GB of bandwidth. We’re not sure it is enough to understand the full potential of this VPN.

Also, there are providers like Windscribe that offer a similarly limited version for more than a month. So maybe if you need a temporary solution, VPNSecure is not the best choice.

Moreover, it seems like this provider figured 30 days of the trial period are quite enough. Therefore, there is no need to extend a money-back guarantee. So we have only 7 days to understand if we like the software or not. Not a very generous offering, but let’s move on.

There are three prepaid plans: one-month, six-month and annual. All plans include the same features and number of servers. Just as with many other providers, the longer plan you choose, the less you pay. So, here are the prices:

Subscription Plans
1 month
$9.95/mth
6 months
$8.32/mth
36 months
$2.99/mth
Users who don’t care much about the encryption may opt for VPNSecure PPTP and HTTP Proxy plans. Both allow using all servers, give anonymous access and zero-logs policy.

PPTP – $7.95/monthly

HTTP Proxy – $4.95/monthly

You should choose these plans only if you know what you are doing. Otherwise, you can compromise your safety, because these protocols are quite outdated and not reliable.

Customer Support

The customer support is hands down excellent. We used live chat on the website to find out whether VPNSecure works with TOR browser or not. And we got an answer in just a couple of minutes. Additionally, from the replies, we could tell that we’re talking to the real human, not to a bot. It is great because usually live chats are just robots that give automatic answers.

If you want, you can contact the support team via email or fill in the form on the website. Specialists are available 24/7, so you will get help regardless of the current time.

VPNSecure for android, mac and windowsIn addition, there is an impressive knowledge base on the VPNSecure site. You will find a lot of tutorials and useful articles going through it. So we advise you to go to the base first if you have any issues and look for relevant information. Then, if you haven’t found what you need, you can get help from the support team.

Do We Recommend VPNSecure?

VPNSecure is a rather controversial provider. On the one hand, it offers an unlimited number of devices per subscription which is no doubt great. But on another side, the speed is not that good, and you can find providers with better bandwidth – IPVanish, for example, – it will be cheaper, too.
